Transport is provided by Suffolk County Council for all pupils who live three miles or more from the school. This distance is measured by the shortest available route. Parents or Guardians who opt for a place at the school, but who do not live within the recognised catchment area as designated by Suffolk County Council are expected to make their own arrangements for transport and to meet the cost. For pupils who live within three miles of the school concessionary places may be available: this depends upon there being spare places on the vehicles operating the route concerned and upon the parents paying in advance for such a service. Charges are levied only for the first two discretionary travellers in each family; additional children travel free of charge.
For parents in receipt of benefit free transport may be available, please contact the number below for details. Pupils will only be permitted to board school transport upon production of a valid bus pass (photocard) which can be obtained from Suffolk County Council (contact the number below). These are normally issued during the school summer holiday providing pupils qualify. If you feel your child should be entitled to a bus pass but has not received one by the end of August, please contact Suffolk County Council, School Transport on the number below.
Any parents with queries about travel arrangements should contact:
A late bus service operates on Mondays and Tuesdays for pupils who qualify for school transport with a valid bus pass (except the first and last Monday/Tuesday of each term) so that all our pupils have the opportunity to stay for after-school activities.
If your child loses their bus pass a temporary pass can be issued by the school (Mrs Burrows, Pupil Services) - Suffolk County Council charge £10 for this.
Pupils are only permitted to travel on their assigned bus the number of which is displayed on the pass. Any change of bus route must be authorised by Suffolk County Council.
Changes of address which mean your child would need to use an alternative bus route must be advised to the school and Suffolk County Council.
