A Sense of Purpose

The College has a sense of purpose and direction that makes it unique among post 16 providers.

Hartismere has combined the best elements of the traditional school system and the modern sixth form college to create a wholly unique and individual establishment.

It is a different community: smaller, friendlier and more personal. This ensures we can respond to the needs of each individual.

We have a very rigorous work ethic and much is demanded of the students. We provide more support and help than is found in many schools, delivered by means of specialist teachers, personal tutors and an exceptionally thorough system of monitoring.

New Challenges, New Approaches

The students who come to Hartismere have been happy and successful at their former schools, but they are now ready for fresh challenges. They have reached an age when they feel that the approaches that worked for them when they were younger will no longer be as effective for them in the Sixth Form.

They want a College which offers them a wider range of subjects and more flexibility of choice, and they want a Sixth Form that is academically strong.

Hartismere VI College has one of the finest academic records in the Eastern region. Hartismere offers a unique preparation for life after school – a real stepping stone between school and university. The College treats students as responsible adults, and responsible adults they prove to be.

Everyone within the College is in no doubt that learning to be mature in their dealings with others is as important a lesson as anything learned in the classroom.

Creativity and Confidence

The College attracts a great deal of musical and theatrical talent. Legendary music evenings and band nights establish the importance of being a ‘rounded’ individual with much to complement academic ability.

Students are also able to engage in the whole school production where members of the Sixth Form lead and support the Hartismere school production. Recently this has lead to students enjoying workshop weeks with West End practitioners in London.

The 2011 production, ‘Back to the 80s’, attracted sell out audiences and continued our tradition of excellence in theatrical performance.
