Economics

The course investigates how the economy works and affects individuals, communities, countries and the world. Throughout theories and concepts are applied to relevant topical case studies.

What do you study for AS?

What do you study for A2?

Who is advised to Study Advanced Economics?
. Anyone with an interest in current affairs.
. Someone who feels it will be useful for a later career.
. Someone who can express ideas and arguments clearly.
. It combines with both Science subjects and Humanities.
. You will gain four GCSE grades C or above.
. You will benefit from having Maths and English GCSEs grades C or above.

Styles of Learning / Working
These will include research work, report writing, investigations, presentations, exam practice, discussion with outside speakers and video case studies. Lesson types will include class input lessons, tutorials and IT lessons.

What can Advanced Economics lead to?
. Access to study Economics or related courses at University or College.
. Careers in management, personnel, accountancy, marketing, sales, the Civil Service and local government.
. Most career areas involve some aspect of Economics so whatever job you decide to do an understanding of Economics will help.
