Key Stage 3 Geography

GEOGRAPHY COURSE OUTLINE

Pupils study a variety of physical and human geography themes in Years 7 to 9 which include geographical skills and people/environment issues. Each area of study lasts about half a term.

Year 7

  • Map Skills

  • Volcanoes
  • Agriculture
  • Fieldwork in Rendlesham forest = Environmental and Conservation
  • Assessments: Map Skills test and fieldwork write-up

Year 8

  • Extreme Environments
  • Man's impact on Environments/Climate Change
  • Threatened Environments ( Antarctica )
  • Coasts and Coastal Management
  • Assessments: Antarctica; Dunwich fieldwork and coastal management

Year 9

  • Natural Hazards (volcanoes and earthquakes)
  • Energy
  • Consumerism and Fashion
  • Population and Development
  • Travel and Tourism
  • Assessments: Kobe earthquake and wind farm assessment
