GEOGRAPHY COURSE OUTLINE

Pupils study a variety of physical and human geography themes in Years 7 to 9 which include geographical skills and people/environment issues. Each area of study lasts about half a term.

  • Coasts and Coastal Management
  • Assessments: Antarctica; Dunwich fieldwork and coastal management

Year 9

  • Natural Hazards (volcanoes and earthquakes)
  • Energy
  • Consumerism and Fashion
  • Population and Development
  • Travel and Tourism
  • Assessments: Kobe earthquake and wind farm assessment

You will be introduced to this in your lessons shortly.

You could do something like a diary written by the explorer as they went to Antarctica, or a film interview (if you can get some volunteers to help you!)

There are problems with the website at the moment so you won't be able to access certain things. You will need to speak to someone who has done the homework or see your teachers if you are having problems!

Jack is does say on the instructions to google the website 'Mapzone' and load it up. Then select the 'GIS' button from the top toolbar and click on the English version - then click on GIS missions and flood damage control and follow the instructions to play the game - once complete then write a page or so on what you found and your results, plus any changes you would make.

The report should be at least 1 page of A4 typed up. In terms of the link, google mapzone and try it from there as the link wasn't working!
