GCSE History
At GCSE pupils study the Edexcel SHP course. This comprises four units each worth 25% of the marks at full GCSE level. The units are:
Unit 1: Schools History Project Development Study: Option 1A Medicine and treatment.
(Studied in Year 10 and examined at the end of Y11);
Unit 2: Schools History Project Depth Study: Option 2B The American West c1840-c1895.
(Studied in Year 11 and examined at the end of Y11);
Unit 3: Schools History Project Source Enquiry: Option 3A The transformation of surgery c1845-c1918.
(Studied in Year 11 and examined at the end of Y11);
Unit 4: Representations of History. This is a Controlled Assessment (CA) unit.
The content of this will change every two years but for 2010/11 it will be based on the history of Germany between 1918 and 1939.
(Studied, written and moderated in Year 10 but submitted in Year 11 for assessment).
