  1. Chronological understanding
  2. Cultural, ethnic and religious diversity
  3. Change and continuity
  4. Cause and consequence
  5. Significance
  6. Interpretation

and learn the key processes of:

  1. Historical enquiry
  2. Using evidence
  3. Communicating about the past

At Hartismere pupils will build up an understanding of the periods, concepts and processes being studied by revisiting five themes at regular intervals over three years:

  • Conflict
  • Power and politics
  • Life of ordinary people
  • Movement, settlement and Empire
  • Ideas and beliefs
