Suggested Reading

Books are really useful too!

The internet is often the only source some pupils use to find infomation about the topics they are studying. Of course the internet provides us with access to some really amazing resources and should be used appropriately. You will often be asked to visit particular web sites specifically because they provide sources not otherwise available. However sometimes you just can't beat a good book....

On this page we will make some suggestions about which books might be most useful for particular topics you study in KS3, GCSE or GCE level. You can find some relevant texts in the school library. You may also want to broaden your research and either borrow books from a public library or buy copies of particularly useful texts.

.....and now of course you can even use Apps like iBooks to read a range of texts on you iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. So whichever way you look at it there's no reason not to have done some background reading! (28/05/11)

iBooks Go
iBooks is an amazing way to download and read books. iBooks includes the iBookstore, where you can download the latest best-selling books or your favorite classics – day or night. Browse your library on a beautiful bookshelf, tap a book to open it, flip through pages with a swipe or a tap, and bookmark or add notes to your favorite passages.

History in An Hour - Black History Go
One for Y12. Black History In An Hour cannot, by definition, be comprehensive. However, this book will provide the reader with an introduction to the powerful and dramatic history that is loosely termed 'Black History'. The study of Black History in the West has to be seen primarily in the context of American history. It was in the USA, where all men are created equal, that slavery and the fight for civil rights had its most profound effect.
