Middle ground CCTV opinions

Police officers are seen visiting the scene of a crime and seeking images from CCTV units owned by shops and businesses in the area. The police recognise that some members of the public feel that CCTV is used to convict people of supposedly minor offences, such as litter and traffic offences, while serious crime avoids detection. The Visual Images, Identifications and Detections Office (VIIDO) system uses CCTV for the more serious crimes.
