German Exchange 2009/10

How did the students experience the exchange?
An exchange programme is a unique experience for our students. We are glad that both the German and the English pupils had such a good time.

"I really enjoyed the German exchange this year because everyone knew each other and we all got along really well. The German students really enjoyed our lessons, and all the trips they went on, and we all enjoyed having them here. They had lots of trips, including visiting Eye, Norwich and London, going swimming and going bowling. Some of these trips were for both the English and German students, and some were just for the Germans. At the weekend we went to the beach, and had some friends round for a meal which was really nice. Hopefully we will all stay in touch because we made some really good friends! It was a good experience for all of us, and I would really recommend it -especially if you’re looking to take German as a GCSE."

"Last week, our German exchange partners from Hagen, a city near Dortmund, came to our school and stayed with host families for a week. Overall, the week was really good fun; and a great opportunity to learn more of the language- especially conversational skills. During the school week, our partners observed normal school lessons, looked round our town and school, and also had the chance to go sightseeing and shopping in London and in Norwich. At the weekend, my partner and I spent Saturday with friends, at a barbecue and then in the cinema, and Sunday we went to the beach with my family to see a traditional English pleasure beach and to have fish and chips. The exchange was a really good experience, and I feel that I have improved my language a lot, and have made lots of new friends. I would recommend it to anyone thinking of taking GCSE or A level German."
