BTEC DANCE

Course description:

The BTEC First in Dance builds on learning from KS3, for those that may wish to explore a vocational route throughout Key Stage 4, and in post-16 education. The course is split into 3 units.


Unit C11- Urban Street Dance. Pupils will develop their knowledge of urban dance styles and will explore different styles available. Pupils will acquire the underpinning knowledge of the basic interpretative skills of these styles.

 

Unit 13 - Performing Dance. Pupils will be able to participate in practical workshops developing their knowledge and understanding of the basic physical and interpretive skills. Pupils will also need to review their own progress in rehearsals and performances.


Unit 10 - Contemporary Dance. Regular participation in contemporary technique classes applying physical skills and absorbing and reproducing patterns of movement.


Pupils will be assessed through both practical and theoretical work and are awarded a distinction, merit, pass or not yet achieved for each unit
