Highlights of an A2 Chemistry field trip to the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge on "Leap Day" 2012. Looking at the way that artists from medieval times to Monet in the 1860s developed pigments and used chemistry to create art. Students were given samples of pure gold at the end......... hammered to 200nm thickness !
