Year 9 students enjoyed attending the FLY festival at the UEA, Norwich on Thursday and Friday last week. Each day was packed with authors and workshops.
On Thursday we saw Matt Dickinson (a writer, journalist and documentary film maker who has climbed Everest on more than one occasion), Alexander Gordon Smith (a horror writer and patron of the festival), Alex Scarrow (writer, musician and video games designer) and Kiran Millwood Hargrave (poet, playwright and award-winning novelist).
On Friday we attended talks by Kevin Crossley Holland (well-known for translating Norse myths and the Arthurian legends), Jan Blake (an expert storyteller, especially stories relating to the Caribbean and Africa) and Anthony McGowan (author of books for adults and children).
We hope to book Jan Blake for a school visit next year, so watch this space!
