Duncan Slater Presented with £1000 Cheque in Year 9 assembly for his charity Walking With The Wounded

Afghanistan War Veteran and double amputee, Duncan Slater came in to the Year 9's assembly to receive the money raised by the school for his charity Walking With The Wounded. This money was raised at the end of last year, partly through the sale of ceramic poppies the students made to mark the centenary of the beginning of World War One. The other proportion of the money was raised through the Christmas Fair, organised by the year 9 form groups. Mr Slater, who can be seen pictured receiving the original 100th poppy he laid on the morning of November 11th, thanked the students and school as a whole and told them a bit about where the money would go, and the soldiers and soldiers’ families that the money would help.
