The Year 10 rugby team managed a 15-14 win over opponents Woodbridge School in round one of the Nat West National cup. With some last minute changes, players playing out of position and year 9's stepping into the fold the game started with the visitors dominating, while Hartismere struggled to organise their defence and put some phases together. The visitors scored a well deserved converted try early on, thanks in part to some lack lustre tackling. The second half saw a real turnaround with two tries scored by Sam Cowling and the score now at 10-7 to Hartismere. With seven minutes to go the Hartismere defence started to hold firm and a third try was scored - 15-7 to Hartismere. In the dying seconds Woodbridge managed a score under the posts, converted with the last kick of the game - final score 15-14 to Hartismere. Some excellent performances from captain Seb Turner and Lukas Askham in the pack while Sam Cowling kept the Woodbridge defence busy all game. Well done to Year 9's Oscar Kelly, Matthew Ide, Tyler Pursehouse and Will Rapkin for stepping up a year group. The team will now face either City of Norwich School or Thomas Mills in the next round.
