Hartismere School

An outstanding coeducational secondary school and sixth form college

The year 7 football team suffer extra time heartbreak as they are knocked out of the National Cup competition in extra time.

The game proved to be a very close encounter. Hartismere took the lead during the second half when a powerful shot struck by Harry Clarke was saved by the excellent Thorpe goalkeeper, however Sam Wood reacted first to score the rebound. Thorpe responded immediately with an superb top corner shot giving goalkeeper Charlie North no chance. Throughout extra time Will Hubbard, Joseph Davison, Joe Skipper and Arthur Phillips continued to dominate the midfield  with some intricate passing football. The defence consisting of captain Joshua Rainbird, Simon Reeve and Sebastian Edwards were solid along with goalkeeper Toby Johnson and penalties were ominous. With two minutes left of extra time the same Thorpe St Andrew player found the top corner to ensure that they progressed to the third round of the National competition (2-1). The Hartismere players of the match for this game went to Joshua Rainbird and Sebastian Edwards for their outstanding defensive performances. The year 7's next game will be against Debenham in the league competition on Wednesday 19th October.
