Having been nominated as one of 12 prominent Young Speakers in the country by the English Speaking Board, Charlie and his family wended their way to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Liverpool on Saturday 17th November. It was a formal affair, where Charlie got to meet the other winners of this prestigious award. After lunch, there was a formal presentation where former ESB winners performed pieces from their ESB examination, and then Charlie and his fellow students were asked to also perform one of their examination pieces: Charlie performed his reading of Wilfred Owen's 'Dulce et Decorum Est'. Once the performances were over, the 12 Young Speakers of the Year were awarded their trophies and certificates.
Considering that Charlie was nominated by the Exam Board from over 30,000 candidates, this is a significant achievement. Congratulations Charlie!
