Barcelona February 2019
A-Level students from Hartismere School spend a weekend soaking up the Spanish culture; visiting Park Güell, the Miro Foundation and the Hard Rock Cafe, as well as exploring the world-famous architecture of Spanish Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí through investigating Gaudi's most renown work: the Sagrada Família. Students were also lucky enough to take part in a specially organised life-drawing class within the Museu Europeu d'Art Modern, expressly open that day for our workshop, led by a Suffolk artist now based in Barcelona, Rebecca Lyne. Rebecca now works as a drawing tutor at the Academy of Art in Barcelona. In between these venues, the sixth formers, many of whom take Photography or Fine Art A-Levels, were able to sketch and photograph the beautiful, scenic views, striking architecture and local culture through varied vantage points such as rooftops, cable cars, sandy beaches and the hustle and bustle of tree-lined pedestrian mall Las Ramblas. Thank you to all the students that took part, it was a fantastic trip!
