History Learning at Home - Week 1 (Covid-19)

Bury St Edmunds

Friday 27 March 2020

Dear pupils and parents,

History Learning at Home

I thought that at the end of the first week of the suspension of normal history lessons it would be nice to reflect on how things have gone so far.

To the pupils I have got to say that I have been absolutely amazed at the way, in very challenging circumstances, you have just been getting on with your learning this week. I know I speak for everyone in our history department when I say how proud we are that we teach such motivated and resilient children. Whether you've been using your Google Classroom or the SENECA platform you have impressed us all with the results you've produced. Your use of email has been really effective and you've been politely asking for help when you've needed it. The effort put in by Y10 and Y12 pupils has been particularly good to see. If you have not been able to access the online material please bear with us as we get alternative support in place for you. Well done to you all and keep it up.

I also want to say a massive thank you to the parents and carers who will have played a big part in helping to make this first week work. So....thank you for all your effort, it is very much appreciated. We are very fortunate indeed to have such positive adults helping us through this tough time.

So....the weekend beckons and then a short week before the Easter break. I hope you have a restful couple of days before joining us again in our 'virtual classrooms' on Monday!

With best wishes,

Richard Miller

Head of History
