Woyzeck. Performance and workshop. 4 October 2024. GCSE & A Level Drama & Theatre

Friday October 2024

Details to KAT MARY PRODUCTIONS ‘WOYZECK’ FRIDAY 4 OCTOBER 2024

To support their studies, we have an exciting opportunity for GCSE and A level drama pupils. Kat Mary Productions will be coming to Hartismere School to present a performance of ‘Woyzeck’ and run a Brecht workshop for pupils taking drama and theatre at A Level. GCSE drama pupils can also watch the performance, and there may be space for those considering drama and theatre at A level to also join in with the workshop.

Schedule:

10:45am to 12:45 pm Workshop (A Level drama & theatre pupils only)

1:30 pm to 2:30 pm Performance of Woyzeck to GCSE drama & A-Level drama & theatre pupils

3:00pm to 3:20pm Post show Q&A

Priority for tickets goes to those studying drama in years 10, 11, 12 and 13. Spare tickets for the performance will be available for year 9 students who are considering drama at GCSE.  Hartismere School drama department will subsidise the cost of the workshop and performance, however there

will be a charge for both the performance and the workshop. The cost of participating in both the workshop and watching the performance is £10.00 and to watch the performance without taking part in the workshop, there is a charge of £5.00.

This is a fully immersive and interactive experience where students take part in a workshop, followed by both watching and participating in a show. During the show, the students will be required to work alongside the actors at set moments to create soundscapes, tableaux, scenery using multi-purpose props and they may work in groups and play solo characters. All the performance requirements will be clearly explained through a casting document sent before the show and then again during the workshop. The actors will cue all student participation throughout the show.

Students can wear their school uniform or can wear ‘drama blacks’ or clothes in plain, neutral colours. This is preferred but not essential. Students should ensure cycling or gym shorts are worn under skirts.

If your child would like to apply for a place, our preferred method of payment is by ParentPay or cheque (payable to Hartismere School) please enclose this with the reply slip and the consent form in an envelope marked “KatMary”, which pupils should hand in via the post boxes at pupil services or in the maths corridor. (A place will not be reserved until payment has been received).
