Hartismere Website :: A History :: 2007
2007 sees a significant change to the school website.
Now all the content is stored in a database and each page is generated automatically. This "content managed system" was quite new at the time - and the site had to be hosted in the USA because the original website host didn't support the technology required.
The school website is built with DotNetNuke - a Microsoft Asp.Net web based application with some slight modifications.
The site was about 500MB in size - a thousand times bigger than 10 years previously. Each week approximately 7,000 people from around the world visited the school site.
It cost £1.99 to re-register www.hartismere.co.uk for the following two years.
Because the site was generated from a database it's impossible to reproduce the site here, but a few screenshots still remain...

However this legacy version contains (very, very nearly) all the same content. Each page is rendered on our server and doesn't rely on any browser features except the odd font. It doesn't even need Javascript or fancy CSS. It's like being in 1995!
