National SMSC Quality Mark - Gold

For the last two years the school has been working with the organisation Young Citizens UK (@YoungCitizensUK) to review and develop the SMSC aspects of our curriculum.
We're delighted to announce that following a recent visit from one of the organisation's panel of verifiers the school has been awarded the Gold level Quality Mark. The verifier met staff, parents, pupils and a school Governor to discuss what the school does to ensure that the spiritual, moral, social and cultural aspects of learning are central  to our curriculum. The verifier was particularly impressed by the nine pupils from Y8, Y9 and Y11 whom she met, describing them as "truly confident, happy and well-rounded individuals".
The verifier said in her final report that she got "a really good understanding and feeling for the school", was impressed by the way "we prioritise SMSC as a guiding principle of the curriculum" and congratulated "Hartismere School on the Gold standard of SMSC development that is afforded the pupils."
Thank you to everyone who was involved.
